Connections With Form And Function In Extinct Fossil Vertebrates

Divya Kasturi

Choreographer and performer Divya Kasturi took part in discussion with Dr Stephan Lautenschlager and curator José Forrest-Tennant to explore the academic’s research on form and function in extinct fossil vertebrate.

Kasturi used her fingers, hands and feet to make comparisons between human anatomy and the disarticulation and fragmentation of fossil bones. The artist scrutinised raw data and used utterances and movement to develop work-in-progress alluding to the subsurface and connections with South Asian dance.
