Rock Chemistry And Hierarchies Of Race

Barbara Walker

March 2018

Artist Barbara Walker is concerned with highlighting the Caribbean figure and making those that have been invisible visible. Recent work has focussed on the contribution from Commonwealth soldiers to the World Wars.

Walker worked with academic Dr Sebastian Watt to explore connections with chemical data – particularly rock samples and sections and how sediment rocks might relate to ideas on burial and ritual and hierarchies of race.

How might this develop into both online and offline work using technology?
